For our “60 Second Idea to Improve the World” task, I decided to do more than just throw out a random suggestion.

My podcast idea, “One Tree Per Person,” isn’t just a concept. It’s a movement waiting to happen. The pitch? Every person plants one tree every year, and one more on their birthday. Simple. Scalable. World changing. Imagine growing up alongside your forest. Every tree, a living, breathing snapshot of who you are.
Writing this felt natural. Honestly, the hardest part was trimming it down to 60 seconds without losing the poetic weight of the message. I’m used to thinking big, so compressing a world saving idea into a tight frame was a creative challenge. But I nailed it. And yes, I’m proud of it. The process was energizing, and it reminded me that good ideas don’t have to be complicated. They just have to resonate. Also And I would definitely want a family pine forest.

Would I assign this to my own students in the future? Absolutely. It sparks creativity, hones communication, and connects language learning to real life impact. It pushes learners to express big ideas in compact ways. Sure, public speaking nerves can kick in, but that’s part of the growth. Just like a tree.
And if my students’ ideas are even half as good as mine, the world’s in safe hands.
